Northwest Ice
Above is a photo of Johannasberg Mountain.  Note the nearly
continuous line of ice ascending the center of the picture.  This
has been climbed and can be done at a reasonable grade when
in.  The big danger are the monsterous avalanches that sweep
through the area in the winter.

To the left is a photo of Franklin Falls, which can be found
directly under I-90.  In a good year this small area can produce
quite a bit of quality ice climbing.
These two pictures are of a
line Gene Pires and I
attempted on Abiel Peak in
2002.  The ice was full of air
and quite dangerous.  As a
result we were forced to bail.

Abiel Peak may be the Ben
Nevis of the Cascades.
There are literally dozens of
steep thin veraglassed lines
on the mountain.

Millenium Wall in Leavenworth.
